What you will do
- Lead complex technology and software projects from initiation and planning through implementation, handover, and closure.
- Define project scope, deliverables, schedules, budgets, success measures, and governance documentation.
- Manage multiple projects and workstreams, including milestones, dependencies, risks, issues, constraints, and change requests.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams across software development, QA, infrastructure, architecture, business, and operations.
- Build relationships with government departments, municipalities, public entities, executives, and senior client stakeholders.
- Manage project budgets, forecasts, P&L, resource utilisation, contractual obligations, and commercial performance.
Requirements
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Project Management, Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or a related field.
- Recognised project management certification such as PMP, PRINCE2, PMBOK-aligned certification, or equivalent.
- 8–10+ years of project management experience, including at least 5 years in technology, software development, systems implementation, or digital transformation.
- Proven experience delivering large-scale projects within South African government, public-sector, or state-owned entities.
- Experience across the software development life cycle and Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid delivery methodologies.
- Experience managing budgets, forecasts, resources, commercial performance, multidisciplinary technical teams, and senior stakeholders.
Nice to have
- Agile certification such as CSM, PSM, SAFe, or equivalent.
- Training or certification in Programme Management, Change Management, or Business Analysis.
- Experience in fintech, financial services, payments, digital government services, or large-scale transactional platforms.
