Focus on diagnosing complex field failures, minimizing equipment downtime, documenting regulatory-compliant service work, and supporting critical mining, manufacturing, and energy operations.

Location: Branch-based in Henderson, Auckland, New Zealand, with extensive travel to customer sites; listed as on-site.

Generator Rental Services provides temporary energy and temperature-control equipment across New Zealand and the wider NZPAC region as part of hirify.global’s Specialty Rental Division.

What you will do

  • Perform planned and impromptu service visits to diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical equipment issues.
  • Commission and decommission rental machinery, including air compressors, generators, dryers, boosters, and steam boilers.
  • Inspect returned equipment and complete repairs and maintenance to ensure readiness, safety, and operational efficiency.
  • Document service and maintenance activities in line with corporate and regulatory requirements.
  • Advise customers on-site, maintain professional relationships, and collaborate with branch leadership on service quality improvements.
  • Participate in safety training, technical development, and team knowledge sharing.

Requirements

  • Trade qualification in an electrical discipline.
  • Strong commitment to safety standards and compliance procedures.
  • Availability for customer support, including on-call and after-hours work.
  • Ability to work autonomously, solve practical technical problems, and communicate clearly with regional teams.
  • Hands-on experience in workshop or repair environments.
  • Valid driver’s license; proficiency with Microsoft Office is required.

Nice to have

  • Experience with electricity network providers or heavy industries such as mining, manufacturing, or production assembly.
  • Forklift certification.
