BI Engineer (Power BI)

What you will do

• Build and enhance Power BI reports and dashboards based on business requirements, wireframes, reporting definitions, and user needs.
• Design and maintain enterprise Power BI datasets and semantic models for governed reporting and self-service analytics.
• Translate stakeholder requirements into reporting logic, metric definitions, filters, calculations, and access models.
• Transform and cleanse data with Power Query, work with curated warehouse and lakehouse layers, and query relational data with SQL.
• Develop complex DAX measures, including KPIs, time intelligence, segmentation, exception logic, and multi-table calculations.
• Implement Row-Level Security, manage permissions and governance controls, and perform QA, reconciliation, validation, and documentation.

Requirements

• Current SC clearance or eligibility to obtain SC clearance is required.
• Pre-existing right to work and travel within the UK is required; documentary evidence will be requested.
• Strong hands-on Power BI experience covering report development, data modelling, DAX, Power Query, and performance optimisation.
• Experience building enterprise datasets and semantic models, with strong knowledge of dimensional modelling, relationships, data grain, and scalable design.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases, data validation, reconciliation, data quality, lineage, and access control.
• Strong stakeholder engagement, attention to detail, QA discipline, documentation skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Nice to have

• Experience with data warehouses, lakehouses, curated reporting layers, or Silver layer architecture.
• Experience governing Power BI workspaces, sharing models, and enterprise reporting environments.
• Experience in secure, regulated, or highly governed data environments.
• Experience collaborating with product, engineering, and data teams in agile delivery environments.
