TL;DR
Systems/Software Engineer III (L2 Protocols - STP, ERPS, LAG, MC-LAG, VPLS) (C/C++ networking): Developing next-generation access and aggregation router platforms for Metro and 5G networks with an accent on Layer 2 protocols, JunOS or Junos EVO architecture, and Linux systems programming. Focus on implementing networking protocols, debugging user-space and kernel processes, and solving complex customer deployment and interoperability issues.
Location: Onsite, primarily working from an HPE office

What you will do
- Develop next-generation access and aggregation router platforms for Metro, 5G, and mobile backhaul deployments.
- Build product functionality using JunOS or Junos EVO software architecture.
- Collaborate with product management, systems teams, and solution test teams to deliver high-quality products.
- Provide engineering assistance to the Juniper Technical Assistance Team during critical customer escalations.
Requirements
- BS/MS degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a similar field.
- At least 14 years of software development experience.
- Proficiency in C and C++ programming and debugging.
- Experience with Layer 2 protocols and technologies, including STP, ERPS, 802.1X, LAG, MC-LAG, VPLS, bridging, and switching.
- Experience with Unix/Linux systems, user-space processes, kernels, socket programming, and inter-process communication.
- Knowledge of TCP/UDP, IPv4/IPv6, Layer 2/Layer 3 protocols, IGMP and MLD snooping, PIM, NG MVPN, EVPN, and service provider networking.
