Location: Texas, KY, USA; work on Pacific Time hours and collaborate with engineering teams in AEST.
Salary: USD 297,000–345,000 yearly

Canva is a visual design platform developing an external ecosystem of MCP services, REST APIs, apps, and middleware for integrations with AI platforms.
What you will do
- Drive technical decisions and alignment between strategic partners and Canva engineering teams.
- Shape the technical direction of Canva's external platform surface, including investment, evolution, and deprecation decisions.
- Validate partner proposals against Canva's architecture and create prototypes or sample code to support decisions.
- Coordinate product-line engineering across MCP, REST APIs, Apps-in-Canva, and the middleware PaaS.
- Communicate platform direction to partners early and support go-to-market alignment.
- Lead end-to-end technical relationships for flagship AI platform and strategically significant enterprise engagements.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience across partner engineering, platform engineering, and product.
- Production experience building developer platforms used by external developers.
- Ability to move between product roadmaps, system design, API reviews, and partner negotiations.
- Strong understanding of MCP, tool use, agentic API design, and related technical trade-offs.
- Experience working with heterogeneous, fast-moving product stacks and unfamiliar codebases.
- Clear written communication and experience raising the technical bar across engineering teams.
Nice to have
- Hands-on experience shipping or integrating with MCP, including Anthropic, OpenAI, Copilot, or Gemini variants.
- Strong TypeScript skills, React and server-side JavaScript experience, and the ability to read Java backend code.
- Experience converting ambiguous partner signals into actionable engineering decisions.
