TL;DR
Engineering Manager (Zero Trust Security): Leading the engineering team building and delivering Trusted Keep, a zero trust data security product for protecting sensitive federal-government information across on-premise and cloud environments with an accent on people leadership, technical execution, and secure distributed systems. Focus on designing complex features, shaping the product roadmap, and strengthening CI/CD, QA discipline, infrastructure-as-code, and engineering practices.
Location: Remote within the United States; ideally on the East Coast. Travel a few times per year is required.
Salary: $169,000–$215,000 USD annually.

What you will do
- Lead, coach, mentor, and support the career development of a remote and on-site engineering team.
- Own team composition, interviewing, hiring, performance reviews, compensation recommendations, and promotions.
- Partner with Product leadership to shape the roadmap, estimate and prioritize work, negotiate scope and timelines, and report status.
- Own engineering delivery from discovery and design through release while maintaining engineering standards and removing blockers.
- Remain hands-on by designing and implementing complex features and contributing to code reviews and architecture discussions.
- Partner with senior engineering leadership on technical direction and mature practices including CI/CD, QA discipline, and infrastructure-as-code.
Requirements
- 10+ years of related IT and engineering experience.
- Experience as an Engineering Manager leading a single remote and on-site engineering team with responsibility for performance and delivery.
- Systems-level experience with Go, Rust, Java, C++, or C#, plus distributed systems knowledge sufficient to review technical designs and estimates.
- Track record of shipping quality software on time and improving engineering teams without disrupting delivery.
- Experience partnering with senior engineers on technical direction and making decisions that support execution.
- Experience with Product Engineering and Agile practices and close collaboration with Product leads.
Nice to have
- Go, Linux systems administration, cloud platforms, and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or Terragrunt.
- Security experience involving HSMs, cryptography, mTLS, PKI, certificate lifecycle management, KMS/HSM internals, or KMIP.
- Experience with OAuth2/OIDC, identity providers such as Keycloak, WebAuthn/FIDO2, OPA/Rego, NATS, or JetStream.
- Experience managing engineers building for hardened hardware, on-premise, or non-cloud-native deployments.
