Principal Software Engineer (TypeScript/JavaScript, Video Streaming): Building client-side video playback libraries and reusable APIs for live, on-demand, and recorded content across browsers, connected TVs, and set-top boxes with an accent on cross-platform integration, DRM, and playback reliability. Focus on designing scalable APIs, implementing MSE/EME-based playback components, and optimizing a high-volume video platform used by millions of customers.
Location: Englewood, Colorado, United States; regular and consistent attendance required
Salary: $160,123.03–$240,184.54 per year

What you will do
- Develop client-side libraries and clean APIs for live, on-demand, and recorded video playback.
- Build reusable TypeScript components for browsers, connected TVs, casting-enabled devices, and set-top boxes.
- Implement end-to-end playback features integrating streaming, DRM, advertising, emergency alerts, and real-time analytics.
- Work with HTML5 video Media Source Extensions and Encrypted Media Extensions.
- Analyze, optimize, and improve the codebase while supporting operational reliability.
- Collaborate with product owners, software engineers, automation engineers, QA engineers, architects, and video-streaming specialists.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software development experience, including JavaScript application development or related programming.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
- Strong computer science fundamentals and the ability to solve complex problems through code.
- Experience with JavaScript in web browsers, maintainable API design, solution integration, and scripting languages.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to explain complex technologies.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced Agile environment with a customer- and team-focused approach.
Nice to have
- Experience with HTTP video.
- Experience with TypeScript and object-oriented development.
