Director, R&D and Data Science (AI/ML and Innovation): Leading GEICO’s research and innovation strategy, developing new business concepts, products, technologies, data, and AI/ML methods with an accent on roadmap execution, resource allocation, and cross-functional collaboration. Focus on building an end-to-end innovation cycle, managing budgets and staffing, and leading data science research under complex business and organizational constraints.
Location: Remote (United States); travel up to 5% required
Annual salary: $150,000–$300,000

What you will do
- Drive the multi-year strategy and roadmap for ’s research, innovation, data, and AI/ML initiatives.
- Lead research into new business concepts, products, technologies, data sources, and analytical methods.
- Work with functional teams to identify innovation opportunities and translate business needs into research and innovation projects.
- Design resource allocation processes and lead the innovation cycle from seed-stage ideas through solution delivery.
- Track project progress, monitor outcomes, and adjust initiatives as needed.
- Own the annual innovation budget, staffing projections, business plans, and cost-management activities.
Requirements
- BA/BS in Economics, Statistics, Operations Research, Mathematics, or a related field.
- 7+ years of data analytics and data science experience.
- 3+ years of experience in leadership roles.
- Strong organization, prioritization, multitasking, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to learn and apply large amounts of technical and procedural information.
- Must be located in the United States; will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization for this position.
