What you will do
- Lead new color and material introductions for body and resin paint operations from laboratory workability through online testing and production approval.
- Plan trials, conduct quality and color evaluations, and provide recommendations for paint and resin shops.
- Establish process controls and parameters for new materials and technologies with cross-functional teams.
- Lead materials-related problem solving across multiple divisions using Business Practice methods.
- Assess cost, production, and environmental impacts of new materials and support paint department objectives.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science or higher in engineering, or equivalent production engineering/manufacturing experience.
- Experience in paint project management, new color introductions, and color and appearance evaluations.
- Experience collaborating across functions on vehicle schedules, material or product development, and implementation.
- Ability to identify root causes and develop countermeasures using TBP thinking.
- Availability to work weekends, holidays, and shutdown periods and travel up to 30%.
- Must have the right to work in the United States without current or future visa or work authorization sponsorship.
Nice to have
- Background in chemical engineering, materials engineering, chemistry, or materials science.
- Completed TBP panel, Quality process familiarity, or Paint Pilot project experience.
- Paint laboratory workability evaluation experience.
- Basic Japanese or Spanish language skills.
