Staff Software Engineer, Mobile (React Native)

Location: Remote Canada; open only to candidates residing in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, or Saskatchewan

Base pay: CAD $181,000–$241,000 per year

What you will do

• Set the team's technical strategy over a year-long horizon and connect it to critical business-impacting projects.
• Collaborate with product management, design, analytics, and engineering teams to manage technical sustainability, risks, and trade-offs.
• Define and advocate for technical solutions, operational processes, code review standards, and design standards.
• Own mobile platform availability through monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks, policies, testing, alerting, and on-call practices.
• Build shared mobile infrastructure and developer tooling that other teams adopt, and communicate technical practices through writing and tech talks.
• Develop engineering talent through feedback, guidance, and technical leadership.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience developing and architecting mobile applications, including 4+ years with React Native.
• Proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript, with hands-on experience in React Native, Expo, native modules, and native components.
• Experience with complex React state management and debugging across the JavaScript-native boundary under React Native's New Architecture.
• Experience performing major React Native SDK updates and staying current with native operating system releases.
• Experience with mobile testing and observability tooling, including E2E frameworks, crash reporting, experimentation, and feature-flagging platforms.
• Ability to lead large projects, define technical and execution plans, write maintainable code, and collaborate effectively with a global engineering team; equivalent practical experience or a related bachelor's degree is required.
