Lead Software Engineer (NBA)

Location: Remote Massachusetts; remote/hybrid work with occasional travel to hirify.global offices. Boston, MA is preferred.

Salary: $155,200–$213,400 per year, plus eligibility for a bonus incentive plan.

What you will do

• Architect, implement, and operate highly available, low-latency microservices for action and variant metadata, policy evaluation, and versioned APIs.
• Design and maintain resilient relational, document, and key-value data stores, including schemas, migrations, indexing, and auditability.
• Integrate enterprise rules engines such as Drools, IBM ODM, DMN services, or OPA/Rego for eligibility, constraints, exclusions, and policy decisions.
• Use AI-assisted and agentic tools to generate service logic, improve schemas, validate rules, and explore edge cases.
• Build automated tests, observability, error handling, fallback strategies, and incident-management practices.
• Collaborate with platform, data, and machine learning teams, participate in architecture reviews, mentor junior engineers, and establish technical standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
• 8+ years of progressive IT experience as a senior developer on large IT projects.
• 2+ years of project leadership experience.
• Experience with microservices, backend APIs, database schemas, rules or policy engines, automated testing, and service reliability.
• Must be able to work from Massachusetts/the United States; occasional travel to hirify.global offices may be required.
• Ability to work standard business hours, Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day, with some flexibility based on business needs.
