Embedded C/Rust Software Engineer

TL;DR
Embedded C/Rust Software Engineer (Embedded Systems): Developing security-critical embedded software and converting low-level C code to Rust for embedded processors and ARM-based SoC systems with an accent on bare-metal programming, architecture development, and firmware integration. Focus on designing constrained Rust software, defining unit and integration testing, and solving low-level embedded and memory-management challenges.
Location: Tampa, Florida, United States. Relocation assistance is available. The role may require approximately 5% travel for customer meetings and off-site development or testing.

What you will do
- Design and develop embedded software while converting C code to Rust.
- Perform Rust trade studies and contribute to software architecture development.
- Create engineering documentation, including software, interface, and hardware design specifications.
- Define unit, integration, and acceptance test plans.
- Manage software configuration items and support Agile and Waterfall projects.
- Provide progress updates, improve development processes and tools, and support quality delivery.
Requirements
- Active US Government Secret Security Clearance required; security clearances are granted to US Citizens.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
- At least 2 years of applicable experience in embedded software development and converting C code to Rust.
- Hands-on low-level or bare-metal software design and coding in both C and Rust.
- Experience with embedded processors, SoC development, and ARM-based systems interacting with firmware.
Nice to have
- 5+ years of applicable experience.
- Experience with OpenOCD, GDB, constrained Rust environments, no-std, and heapless development.
- Experience with the AMD Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC ZCU102 Evaluation Kit.
- Advanced knowledge of ANSI C, Rust, and Python, plus troubleshooting experience with low-level embedded issues and memory management.
- Knowledge of NSA High Assurance Certification processes, US Department of Defense systems, or SEI CMMI.
