Location: Los Angeles, CA; based in Hawthorne with full-time onsite presence five days a week
Salary: $225,000β$300,000 annually, plus stock options; compensation outside this range may be considered case by case.

What you will do
- Develop high-performance numerical solvers and physics-based models for advanced metal 3D printing systems.
- Implement real-time or near-real-time simulations for HPC, GPU, and specialized hardware platforms.
- Collaborate with software engineers to deploy laser powder bed fusion models, integrate low-level solvers into simulation pipelines, and interface with hardware systems.
- Guide computational geometry and meshing approaches for large-scale physics-driven simulations.
- Architect simulation modules for FPGAs and GPUs.
- Contribute to model-predictive control strategies and maintain documentation for algorithms, solvers, and integrated systems.
Requirements
- Bachelorβs degree in applied mathematics, physics, computer science, mechanical engineering, or a related technical field.
- 10+ years of professional experience developing custom simulation solvers, with a PhD in a relevant field.
- Demonstrated experience writing low-level numerical solvers for physical simulations.
- Strong programming skills in C, C++, or CUDA.
- Experience developing simulations in high-performance computing environments, including GPUs.
- Academic or professional familiarity with solid mechanics, continuum mechanics, or related physical modeling domains.
Nice to have
- Experience with real-time or near-real-time GPU and parallel computing simulations.
- Experience with direct numerical simulation, thermo-elastic or thermo-elastoplastic modeling, and hybrid physics/data-driven methods.
- Familiarity with computational geometry, optimization, control theory, and 2D/3D meshing libraries.
- Strong foundations in numerical analysis, first-principles problem solving, and technical communication.
