Localization Linguist (ZH→EN) (Singapore)

hirify.global develops and operates games requiring Chinese-to-English localization and live-operations support.

What you will do

• Rewrite storylines, character dialogue, event and quest copy, and UI text from Simplified Chinese into idiomatic English.
• Preserve tone, emotion, humor, pacing, and character voice through transcreation.
• Build and maintain terminology databases, style guides, voice profiles, naming conventions, and translation memories.
• Review internal and external translator output and turn editorial decisions into reusable standards.
• Organize in-game LQA for development and live-operation builds, track defects, and verify fixes through closure.
• Collaborate with design, narrative, art, publishing, and other teams on cultural adaptation and target-market sensitivities.

Requirements

• Native or near-native English with strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
• Fluent Chinese reading and writing skills, including the ability to interpret nuances in source text.
• At least 3 years of experience in game localization or a related field.
• End-to-end involvement in launching and supporting at least one long-term operated game title.
• Experience with CAT/TMS, terminology management, translation memory, LQA, and defect management.
• Strong cultural sensitivity, editorial judgment, communication, and scheduling skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with casual games or female-oriented content expression.
• Experience building a localization system from scratch or managing external vendors.
• Knowledge of automated QA tooling or AI-assisted translation tools.
