Design System Designer (Automotive)

Location: Austin, Texas; hybrid arrangement with at least three onsite days per week for candidates within 50 miles of Austin, Warren, or Sunnyvale. Remote candidates may also be considered, and relocation benefits may be available.

What you will do

• Collaborate with UI designers, developers, and platform teams to build design systems for mobile, vehicle, and web products.
• Design patterns, components, design tokens, and grid systems for use across multiple scenarios and platforms.
• Develop systematic solutions supporting design system implementation, with an emphasis on in-vehicle UI.
• Bridge design and development through close collaboration and effective handoff.
• Create design work that balances visual craft, usability, and business goals.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in HCI, Graphic Design, Visual Design, Interaction Design, Product Design, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of professional experience in UI design, including design systems, typography, information design, brand systems, and digital design.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating design systems, user experience design, and/or UI development.
• Proficiency in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset.

Nice to have

• Experience with in-vehicle technologies and design.
• Experience contributing to design systems across multiple platforms.
• Familiarity with front-end implementation and design handoff best practices.
• Portfolio examples demonstrating information design, typography, and systems-based problem solving.
