TL;DR
Senior Embedded O/S Software Engineer (Embedded Linux): Designing, integrating, configuring, and deploying Linux-based operating systems for embedded devices with an accent on system integration, performance optimization, and cybersecurity hardening. Focus on configuring kernels and drivers, troubleshooting bootloaders and system initialization, monitoring vulnerabilities, and implementing security countermeasures.
Location: Brno, Czech Republic; hybrid work with home working available for a maximum of two days per week

What you will do
- Integrate, configure, and deploy Linux-based operating systems on embedded devices.
- Define embedded system architectures and partitioning with cross-functional product teams.
- Configure kernel parameters, system libraries, device drivers, and Yocto-based Linux distributions.
- Deploy Linux images and troubleshoot bootloaders, drivers, initialization, and third-party component compatibility.
- Optimize memory footprint, power efficiency, real-time performance, and system resource utilization.
- Monitor vulnerabilities, apply Linux security patches, harden systems, and maintain open-source license compliance.
Requirements
- Understanding of embedded Linux-based operating systems.
- Experience building and configuring operating systems, integrating packages, and working with drivers.
- Technical knowledge of operating system hardening and communication protocols.
- Scripting or programming skills and the ability to explain complex technical issues to non-experts.
- Degree in computer science or a comparable qualification.
- Willingness to support occasional business travel of up to 10%.
Nice to have
- Embedded software development experience with C or C++.
- Ability to troubleshoot and modify components across the embedded software stack.
- Familiarity with Git, code reviews, and modern software development practices.
- Experience contributing to Linux, security, and system integration implementation, debugging, and optimization.
