Staff Application Security Engineer (AI)

Location: Fully remote from a non-hirify.global worksite, most commonly an employee’s residence; job location listed as New York, New York

Salary: $120,000–$145,000 per year, bonus eligible

What you will do

• Design and build scalable application security capabilities for secure software development.
• Create reusable security automations, integrations, APIs, workflows, developer tools, telemetry, dashboards, and reporting pipelines.
• Implement secure-by-default golden paths and engineering patterns across source code, dependencies, containers, cloud-native applications, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and software supply chains.
• Build guardrails and reusable implementations for AI-assisted development tools, coding assistants, and agentic workflows.
• Improve vulnerability prioritization, triage, remediation, validation, reporting, and speed to remediation.
• Provide technical leadership, collaborate with Cloud Security, Platform Engineering, architects, and development teams, and mentor engineers.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in Application Security, Security Engineering, DevSecOps, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Deep experience with secure software development, application security, vulnerability management, and software supply chain security.
• Hands-on experience building security automations, integrations, APIs, platforms, developer tooling, or similar engineering solutions.
• Strong software engineering and scripting skills using Python or similar languages.
• Experience integrating SAST, SCA, secrets detection, container security, CI/CD security, and vulnerability management into developer workflows.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development, agentic workflows, and related security considerations.

Nice to have

• Experience with Snyk, Wiz Code, GitHub Advanced Security, Checkmarx, Veracode, or similar platforms.
• Experience building secure developer platforms, internal tools, paved roads, golden paths, or reusable engineering services.
• Experience with cloud-native architectures, containers, Kubernetes, infrastructure as code, CI/CD security, CSPM, or CNAPP.
• Experience with SBOM capabilities, dependency risk workflows, artifact security, or using AI to improve vulnerability management and developer productivity.
