Lead Applied Scientist (AI/ML)

Location

Amsterdam, The Netherlands. This is a hybrid role requiring office attendance two days per week.

What you will do

• Lead the design, implementation, and integration of scalable AI/ML systems within the POI domain.
• Deliver end-to-end AI/ML solutions for high-impact initiatives, ensuring scalability and maintainability.
• Shape technical architecture and influence long-term platform evolution across teams.
• Develop advanced, production-grade algorithmic solutions for real-world geospatial challenges.
• Mentor Applied Scientists (Levels I–III) and champion engineering best practices.
• Collaborate with Product and Program Managers to define AI/ML strategy and technical trade-offs.

Requirements

• Strong expertise in Applied Science and Machine Learning, particularly in geospatial or data-intensive domains.
• Proven ability to deploy scalable AI/ML systems into production environments.
• Deep understanding of system design, architecture, and product context.
• Strong coding skills with a focus on maintainable, production-quality code.
• Experience identifying technical risks and driving alignment across stakeholders.
• Ability to operate with autonomy and mentor team members to raise engineering standards.
