Applied Scientist Intern (AI/ML)

Location: Madrid, Spain; hybrid work with two days per week in the office and three days from either the office or home

What you will do

• Design, implement, and integrate scalable AI/ML systems and services for the points-of-interest domain.
• Deliver end-to-end AI/ML solutions, advanced algorithms, and production-grade machine learning models for large-scale use cases.
• Shape technical architecture and make decisions affecting cross-team systems and long-term platform evolution.
• Identify technical risks, trade-offs, dependencies, refactoring needs, migrations, and performance improvements.
• Write maintainable production-quality code, contribute to code reviews, and promote engineering best practices.
• Provide technical guidance and mentor Applied Scientists while collaborating with engineers, product managers, program managers, and leadership.

Requirements

• Strong, current expertise in applied science and machine learning techniques, preferably in POI, geospatial, or other data-intensive domains.
• Experience designing, building, and deploying scalable AI/ML systems and developing advanced algorithms and machine learning models.
• Strong understanding of system design, architecture, product context, and domain-specific systems.
• Strong coding skills focused on efficient, maintainable, production-quality code.
• Ability to solve ambiguous, complex problems autonomously and manage technical risks, dependencies, and competing priorities.
• Strong collaboration, communication, stakeholder-influence, and mentoring skills.
