Senior Research Engineer (Cybersecurity)

Location: Hybrid office role in Dublin, Ireland

Salary: €79,500–€106,166.67 EUR annually, depending on experience and qualifications.

What you will do

• Research existing vulnerabilities and discover new vulnerabilities through original security research.
• Develop detection scripts, checks, and plugins for Nessus vulnerability scanners and other hirify.global sensors.
• Implement advanced detection logic while minimizing false positives and false negatives.
• Research detection methods for services and products from different vendors.
• Discuss detection logic and communicate research outcomes with stakeholders outside the research team.
• Support and train other researchers when needed.

Requirements

• At least 3–5 years of development or R&D experience.
• Strong programming skills in C and/or Python.
• Experience with multiple operating systems, with Linux proficiency required.
• Ability to conduct original research and present it externally through blogs, white papers, or similar publications.
• B.S. degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication, independence, adaptability, and attention to quality and accuracy.

Nice to have

• Understanding of networking, TCP/IP, common security vulnerabilities, CVSS, vulnerability classification, detection, and exploitation techniques.
• Advanced protocol analysis involving HTTP, DNS, SSH, SMB, and similar protocols.
• Pen-testing or experience researching, discovering, or publishing vulnerabilities; security certifications such as OSCP.
• Systems administration, command-line experience, CI/CD, SQL, Snowflake, and rigorous software testing.
• Experience with hirify.global products such as Nessus, hirify.global.io, and Security Center.
