Senior Grants Specialist - FEMA HMGP (FEMA Grants and Financial Management): Supporting federally and state-funded residential mitigation grant programs with an accent on financial reconciliation, reporting, compliance, and audit-ready documentation. Focus on reviewing eligible costs, reconciling expenditures, preparing reimbursement requests, and monitoring FEMA program requirements.
Location: Hybrid, with several days per week onsite in Los Angeles County, California, and the remainder working from home within commuting distance
Salary: $85,000–$95,000 starting annual pay range

What you will do
- Support daily financial and grants management activities for federally and state-funded programs.
- Track budgets, review expenditures, reconcile financial records, and support drawdowns and cash management.
- Prepare quarterly reports and reimbursement requests by reconciling expenditures to reported amounts.
- Maintain audit-ready files containing invoices, supporting documentation, and reconciliations.
- Review subrecipient and contractor invoices, participate in quality control, and support audit or monitoring responses.
- Report project milestones, risks, and deliverables while collaborating with clients, program staff, compliance staff, and subject matter experts.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience in grants management, financial management, or accounting within government or government consulting environments.
- At least 2 years of experience using Microsoft Office, including intermediate Excel skills with pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas, and large datasets.
- Ability and willingness to work a hybrid schedule onsite several days per week in Los Angeles County, California, within commuting distance.
- Excellent communication, writing, presentation, organization, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Collaborative and proactive approach with the ability to communicate risks and issues quickly.
Nice to have
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field.
- Experience with FEMA-funded projects, including Public Assistance, HMGP, or grants administration and compliance.
- Experience with governmental or fund accounting, invoice reviews, reimbursement requests, audits, monitoring, or compliance reviews.
- Familiarity with grant management and financial systems.
