Director, SOX Compliance (AI)

Location: Sunnyvale, California or Bellevue, Washington, United States. The role requires access to export-controlled information; applicants must be eligible under applicable U.S. Government export regulations.

Salary: $182,000–$242,000 base salary annually, plus discretionary bonus, equity awards, and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead and continuously mature the end-to-end SOX compliance program, including scoping, risk assessments, process narratives, risk-control matrices, and control documentation.
• Design and execute testing of control design and operating effectiveness across financial, operational, and IT controls.
• Identify deficiencies, assess severity, coordinate remediation, and validate corrective actions.
• Prepare ICFR effectiveness assessments, executive dashboards, metrics, and reporting for senior leadership and the Audit Committee.
• Manage external auditor relationships, including planning, walkthroughs, testing, documentation, and issue resolution.
• Improve control efficiency through GRC platforms, automation, monitoring, and process improvements while leading a team of three SOX professionals.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field.
• CPA, CISA, or CIA certification required; CPA strongly preferred.
• 15+ years of progressive, hands-on SOX compliance experience, including significant technical SOX experience.
• Deep expertise in ITGCs and ITACs, including granular evaluation of control design and testing methodologies.
• Comprehensive knowledge of SOX regulations, the COSO framework, PCAOB standards, and US GAAP.
• Strong executive presence and exceptional analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder-influence skills.

Nice to have

• Big Four public accounting experience focused on SOX advisory.
• Experience with public technology or SaaS companies and high-growth environments.
• Experience with NetSuite, SAP, financial close and consolidation tools, or GRC platforms such as AuditBoard.
• Experience coaching and developing SOX teams.
