TL;DR
Privacy Incidents & Rights Analyst I (Remote) (Healthcare Privacy Compliance): Supporting HIPAA and state privacy rights operations, investigating unauthorized disclosures of protected health information, and analyzing federal and state regulatory requirements with an accent on privacy requests, incident documentation, and regulatory research. Focus on coordinating compliance activities across departments, assessing regulatory changes, and developing privacy procedures, assessments, and training materials.

Location: United States; Remote. Work from home in a designated area with company-provided equipment and a reliable internet connection of at least 50 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload.

Salary: $48,000–$60,000 full-time annual salary.

What you will do

  • Record, process, validate, and manage HIPAA and state privacy rights requests, including releases, amendments, restrictions, deletions, opt-outs, and accountings.
  • Monitor privacy hotlines and group email accounts, document resolutions, escalate non-routine requests, and coordinate subpoena requests with Legal.
  • Investigate and document unauthorized disclosures of protected health information and keep management informed of related issues.
  • Research and analyze federal legislation, regulatory requirements, and privacy compliance issues across multiple states and disciplines.
  • Coordinate with regulatory authorities, external clients, and internal departments to interpret compliance expectations and support regulatory filings.
  • Support PHI inventory assessments, data mapping, document retention, procedures, program materials, reporting, and staff training.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, History, Political Science, a similar field, or equivalent experience; a high school diploma is required with equivalent experience.
  • At least one year of regulatory compliance experience in a healthcare environment, including privacy regulations and federal regulatory research.
  • Knowledge of state and federal privacy laws and regulations, including HIPAA, GLBA, and GINA.
  • Excellent research, analytical, writing, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel, and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Must be able to work remotely from the United States in a suitable work-from-home environment.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Paralegal Studies, or Legal Studies.
  • Experience with health insurance contracts, certificate forms, health plans, and employer groups.
  • Understanding of managed care and wellness benefit rules, as well as ASH systems, policies, and procedures.
