TL;DR
Senior Backend Software Engineer (Go/Scala/Java/C++): Building and operating reliable backend services for GrabMerchant products with an accent on microservices, distributed systems, and end-to-end system ownership. Focus on designing scalable architectures, deploying and monitoring cloud systems, solving merchant problems, and mentoring junior engineers.
Location: Onsite at the Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia office

What you will do
- Design, build, and operate secure, reliable, maintainable, and thoroughly tested backend systems.
- Apply advanced architectural patterns and infrastructure best practices.
- Monitor system health and remain accountable for post-deployment operations.
- Collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders throughout the product lifecycle, from design to rollout.
- Improve engineering workflows and processes to increase delivery efficiency.
- Mentor junior engineers and support continuous learning within the team.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of software engineering experience with a backend language such as Go, Scala, Java, or C++.
- Experience with microservices architecture, distributed systems, RESTful APIs, and message queuing systems.
- Knowledge of relational databases, particularly MySQL.
- Experience with Git, unit testing, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience deploying applications in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud environments.
- Comfort working with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript when contributing to frontend applications.
