First In-House Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote from Brazil; occasional travel to the United States a couple of times per year is required for hands-on work with the team and hardware.

Salary: $100,000–$150,000 base annually, depending on experience.

What you will do

• Write production and prototype code across the stack, build MVPs, and validate ideas with real data or users.
• Develop internal tools, lightweight automation, device integrations, sensor integrations, and third-party service integrations.
• Turn open technical questions about models, hardware, and open-source components into experiments, working prototypes, measurements, and recommendations.
• Conduct hands-on robotics experiments with humanoid robots and evaluate build-versus-buy-versus-integrate decisions.
• Provide leadership with clear assessments of feasibility, effort, risk, scope, and timelines.
• Support technical narratives for presentations and funding rounds while coordinating with the engineering partner.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience and a record of shipping software used by real people.
• Strong hands-on engineering skills, with daily coding experience across the stack and deeper expertise in at least one area.
• Practical experience with AI/ML systems such as LLMs, speech, or perception, including understanding of their limitations.
• Experience taking a product from zero to a working first version in an ambiguous environment without a dedicated team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, autonomy, ownership, and the ability to prioritize without a groomed backlog.
• Ability and willingness to travel to the United States a couple of times per year.

Nice to have

• Experience with robotics, humanoids, embodied AI, IoT, or connected devices.
• Hardware-adjacent experience with edge deployment, audio pipelines, sensors, or on-device inference.
• Experience working with distributed engineering teams or in an early-stage startup.
• Product judgment and a technical background in computer science, engineering, or equivalent self-taught depth.
