Mid-Level Drupal Developer – Contingent

TL;DR
Mid-Level Drupal Developer – Contingent (Drupal): Designing, developing, and maintaining user-facing Drupal functionality, content types, information architecture, responsive layouts, and integrations with an accent on Drupal APIs, accessibility, security, and performance. Focus on customizing modules and themes, optimizing MySQL/MariaDB-backed content systems, implementing automated testing, and completing CMS upgrades for federal digital experiences.
Location: Remote within the United States; only U.S. citizens are eligible. Occasional travel of less than 10% may be required for client meetings, team collaboration, training, or project needs.

What you will do
- Design, develop, maintain, and enhance user-facing functionality in the agency’s Drupal content management system.
- Create and update Drupal content types, menus, information architecture, user roles, permissions, and workflows.
- Customize and integrate Drupal modules and third-party tools such as Qualtrics.
- Implement responsive layouts for tablet and mobile experiences, including homepages, landing pages, and other content types.
- Evaluate accessibility, performance, integrations, security vulnerabilities, and application-level patches.
- Perform functional and automated testing, Drupal CMS upgrades, and technical documentation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 5+ years of Drupal development experience, including module development and customization.
- Experience with Drupal APIs, including Hooks, Services, Events, Views, Rules, and custom core configuration.
- Experience with Twig theming, web design principles, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, and responsive design.
- Back-end experience with MySQL or MariaDB, query optimization, and Drupal’s entity system.
- Git/GitHub experience, understanding of Agile and DevSecOps, strong communication skills, and project-team experience.
