Design Engineer (AI) (Motion and character tools): Designing and prototyping features for generative motion, character, and scene tools with an accent on live-tuning controls, mobile interactions, and the connection between product design and code. Focus on building intuitive real-time interfaces, shipping features from Figma through production, and refining interaction details across a consumer-facing AI product.
Location: Toronto, on-site
Salary: CA$80K–CA$150K per year
Company
Build generative motion and character engines that enable people to direct animated scenes and performances at large scale.
What you will do
- Design and prototype features across motion, character, and scene tools.
- Design live-tuning parameters and real-time controls for shaping scenes and characters.
- Create intuitive mobile interactions using touch, gestures, and motion.
- Move between Figma and code to mock up, build, test, and polish features.
- Partner with design and engineering to ship features from concept through production.
- Refine spacing, motion, copy, and detailed interaction behaviors.
Requirements
- Strong attention to visual and interaction detail.
- Experience designing real-time controls and responsive product interfaces.
- Fluency in Figma.
- Comfort writing code and working in an existing codebase.
- Degree in design, HCI, computer science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Willingness to work in person in Toronto.
Nice to have
- Experience with 3D tools or pipelines.
- Experience shipping consumer mobile apps at scale.
- Passion for print, typography, and related craft.
