Area Manager CAR Bouar

Location: Bouar, Central African Republic, with operational coverage of Paoua/Bocaranga and Kaga Bandoro and delegated liaison responsibilities in Bangui.

What you will do

• Provide overall operational leadership for NRC’s CAR operational area and maintain programme continuity during the CAR–Cameroon transition.
• Manage staff performance, workforce planning, recruitment, induction, development and duty of care.
• Oversee high-quality project implementation, grant management, budget monitoring, donor compliance and resource use.
• Coordinate programme and support functions across multiple locations and contribute to strategy, transition planning and programme development.
• Represent NRC with authorities, donors, UN agencies, NGOs, partners, local leaders and coordination mechanisms.
• Lead safety, security, humanitarian access, emergency preparedness, risk management and change management activities.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of senior management experience in a humanitarian, recovery or development context, including staff management.
• Documented experience in area management, field operations, programme implementation and support-function coordination in complex and volatile environments.
• Strong experience in grants management, donor compliance, budget monitoring and multi-department coordination.
• Experience managing multi-site operations, including openings, transitions, scale-ups, restructurings, closures or handovers.
• Strong understanding of safety and security management, humanitarian access, duty of care and operational risk management.
• Fluent French and professional working knowledge of English are required. Knowledge of the Central African Republic context is important.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of NRC systems, procedures and Core Competencies.
• Experience with displacement, return, durable solutions, civil documentation, education, protection, ICLA, WASH, livelihoods or social cohesion programmes.
