Senior Product Manager, Trading (DeFi)

Location: Preferred: Tokyo or Singapore; alternative locations: Hong Kong, Seoul, or Taiwan. Remote work is available with overlap with APAC working hours.

Building Strium, a DeFi L1 blockchain powered by a decentralized exchange with a fully on-chain order book for spot and perpetual trading, in partnership with a major Japanese financial conglomerate.

What you will do

• Own the product strategy and v1 specification for a core trading surface: order types and margining, programmatic/API trading, or listings and risk parameters.
• Act as the primary product interface for market makers, high-volume traders, institutional counterparties, and incumbent-finance partners.
• Drive the listings pipeline, including market selection, launch timelines, benchmarks, leverage caps, tick and lot sizes, funding caps, oracle sources, and margin requirements.
• Partner with engineering and risk teams on the matching engine, risk engine, API contracts, and exchange design decisions.
• Define and track metrics including market depth, slippage, fill rate, API latency, listings velocity, and market-maker uptime.
• Write product specifications, RFCs, and market-maker briefs while developing competitive intelligence and adjacent surfaces such as lending, hedging, basis trading, and structured products.

Requirements

• 5–8 years of product management experience, including at least 2 years shipping products at an orderbook trading venue such as a derivatives exchange, CEX, or DEX.
• Experience working on a trading or exchange team and owning a roadmap with market makers and institutional traders.
• Strong understanding of perpetual markets, including funding, liquidation engines, insurance funds, margin models, oracle design, mark prices, and latency-sensitive trading.
• Active experience trading perpetuals with non-trivial volume and strong opinions on competing DEX product choices.
• Experience shipping in pre-product-market-fit environments, making independent product decisions, and writing clear specifications and RFCs.
• Technical fluency sufficient for reading code and participating in engineering design reviews; Japanese proficiency is preferred but not required.

Nice to have

• Experience launching a new orderbook trading venue from zero.
• Professional or serious personal experience in quant trading, market making, or trading.
• Experience with on-chain oracle design, liquidation auctions, cross-margin accounting, lending protocols, hedging, basis trades, or structured products.
• Familiarity with Japanese or APAC capital markets and institutional trading workflows.
• Experience shipping products within or alongside a broker-dealer, prime broker, established exchange, asset manager, or other incumbent financial institution.
