Acting Executive Producer (Audio)

Location: New York; onsite at least three days per week

Salary: $90,000–$120,000 for a six-month fixed-term contract

What you will do

• Lead editorial planning and daily output for FT News Briefing, including morning meetings, scripts and audio production.
• Oversee editorial planning, recordings, final edits, episode approvals and social content for Unhedged.
• Work with newsroom editors, reporters, hosts and producers to identify important stories, exclusive coverage and future features.
• Provide editorial guidance and feedback while coordinating legal review and maintaining editorial standards.
• Respond to breaking news by reshaping programme line-ups and sourcing contributors.
• Partner with marketing and social media teams and oversee show notes and publication workflows to grow audience engagement.

Requirements

• Strong editorial judgement and the ability to identify stories that matter to FT audiences.
• Ability to write, edit and shape clear, compelling editorial content and storytelling.
• Strong organisational and editorial leadership skills, including confident decision-making under tight deadlines.
• Understanding of FT journalism, editorial standards and audience needs.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills across presenters, producers, reporters, editors and bureaux.
• Confidence with digital production tools and the ability to learn new systems quickly; professional digital audio workstation or Descript experience is useful.

Nice to have

• Interest or existing knowledge in business, finance or markets journalism.
• Experience in editorial, production, digital publishing, audience engagement or related storytelling roles.
• Experience with audio scripts, professional digital audio workstations or Descript.
