Senior Software Engineer, Government Programs (Geospatial)

Location: Washington, D.C. / Northern Virginia area

Salary: $175,000–$198,000 per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate production pipelines that process and deliver infrared mission data to government programs.
• Integrate Muon's data platform with NRO and Intelligence Community software architectures and data infrastructure.
• Deploy and maintain infrastructure that delivers data into classified environments while meeting security, compliance, and accreditation requirements.
• Own NITF formatting, metadata design, validation, vendor tooling integration, and downstream customer requirements.
• Write production-ready code and ensure the quality, quantitative validation, and integrity of government-facing data products.
• Work with business development, government end-users, software, data platform, mission operations, and program management teams to translate needs into technical designs.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of relevant experience or master's degree with 6+ years.
• 5+ years building production software systems, including data or geospatial pipelines.
• Knowledge of US Government software architectures, particularly NRO and Intelligence Community systems.
• Experience integrating data delivery systems into customer systems and operating high-volume pipelines in cloud infrastructure.
• Exceptional Python development skills and familiarity with adjacent government software-stack tools.
• Active US security clearance required; TS/SCI strongly preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience deploying software infrastructure in classified environments, including IC-level clouds, cross-domain systems, or classified enclaves.
• Experience with NRO programs, NITF, TREs, GDAL/OGR, rasterio, PROJ, Cloud Optimized GeoTIFF, and other geospatial formats.
• Experience with cross-domain solutions, infrared imagery, large geospatial datasets, government accreditation processes, ATO, RMF, or DevSecOps.
