Staff Product Manager (ML)

Location: Hybrid; report to the Warren Technical Center in Warren, Michigan or the Sunnyvale, California office at least three times per week.

Salary: $134,700–$245,00 base salary range, plus bonus potential.

What you will do

• Own the product strategy, roadmap, requirements, and execution priorities for AI/ML training workflow capabilities.
• Improve the end-to-end ML lifecycle, including data preparation, training configuration, orchestration, monitoring, evaluation, debugging, and deployment handoffs.
• Define requirements for training platforms, developer tools, observability systems, workflow automation, experiment management, and performance reporting.
• Use user research, workflow analysis, benchmarking, and KPIs to identify bottlenecks and measure developer productivity, training throughput, cost efficiency, and time-to-insight.
• Balance customer impact, engineering complexity, infrastructure cost, reliability, model quality, and business urgency when prioritizing investments.
• Collaborate with engineering, infrastructure, data, finance, design, program management, ML, and autonomy stakeholders; communicate tradeoffs to senior leaders and mentor product managers without direct people-management responsibility.

Requirements

• 8+ years of product management or related technical product experience, including ownership of complex software platforms or developer-facing products.
• Experience building products for AI/ML, data science, developer productivity, infrastructure, platform engineering, or other highly technical users.
• Strong understanding of ML lifecycles, data pipelines, model training, experimentation, evaluation, performance analysis, and production handoffs.
• Technical proficiency with complex software systems, distributed workflows, cloud or compute infrastructure, and data-intensive products, including reasoning about distributed training failures.
• Strong analytical, written, verbal communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.
• Work authorization in the United States is required; GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship now or in the future.

Nice to have

• Master’s or Doctorate degree in computer science, engineering, data science, machine learning, or a related technical field.
• Experience with ML training platforms, experimentation systems, model evaluation workflows, MLOps tools, workflow automation, observability, self-service tooling, or internal products.
• Experience with autonomous vehicles, robotics, simulation, perception, planning, or other data-intensive AI systems.
• Experience driving change in large, complex organizations across product, engineering, infrastructure, finance, and program management.
