TL;DR
First Line Support Production Engineer (Optics/Manufacturing): Providing hands-on production engineering support for advanced lithography machines in a semiconductor manufacturing factory with an accent on troubleshooting, contamination removal, failed-part disposition, and quality improvement. Focus on diagnosing machine interruptions, implementing containments and structural solutions, and analyzing root causes and cycle time in a cleanroom production environment.

Location: Onsite in Wilton, Connecticut, United States. Front End Nights: 6:00 PM–6:00 AM on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and every other Wednesday; the alternating shift may change to Saturday from January 1, 2027. Occasional off-hours, weekend coverage, and cleanroom work are required.

What you will do

  • Troubleshoot and document production-floor interruptions alongside opticians and technicians.
  • Develop short-term containments and structural solutions for production issues.
  • Evaluate failed parts, determine rework paths, and support production output.
  • Prepare machine-failure reports, daily quality reports, and technical work instructions.
  • Support root-cause and cycle-time analysis and escalate structural process issues.
  • Work hands-on in assigned work centers and cross-train as needed.

Requirements

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.
  • Must be legally authorized to access controlled technology under United States export regulations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical engineering discipline; physics or materials science is also considered.
  • Internship experience in production or manufacturing and 0–1 year of high-tech production or manufacturing experience.
  • Ability to safely use cleaning solvents, interpret mechanical, electrical and optical drawings, and perform hands-on work.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, ownership, adaptability, and quality-focused teamwork skills.

Nice to have

  • Optical fabrication or assembly experience, including etching, optical polishing, lithography processes, or optical contacting.
  • Cleanroom manufacturing experience.
  • Knowledge of statistical process control, PFMEA, Teamcenter, or SAP.
  • Experience with optical tolerancing, specifications, and Scratch-Dig surface requirements.
