Freelance Motion Designer

Location: Remote within the United States; listed locations are New York City, Los Angeles, and San Francisco.

What you will do

• Design and animate motion work for launch videos, commercials, product explainers, social content, and brand campaigns.
• Create work from concept through final delivery across 2D, UI, typography, compositing, and edit-driven animation.
• Translate creative direction and storyboards into motion with the intended tone, pacing, and visual feel.
• Collaborate with producers, editors, designers, directors, creative leads, and clients.
• Iterate quickly on feedback while maintaining visual quality and attention to detail.
• Manage multiple projects and deadlines while pushing concepts beyond obvious solutions.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience as a motion designer, preferably in a studio, agency, or in-house creative team.
• A strong reel demonstrating product and UI motion, brand work, and edit-driven animation.
• Expertise in After Effects and proficiency with Figma and DaVinci Resolve.
• Strong fundamentals in typography, layout, color, composition, timing, easing, and transitions.
• Ability to explain creative decisions, accept feedback, and iterate quickly.
• Experience working in a studio, agency, or fast-moving startup environment.
