Test Lead

TL;DR

Test Lead (Quality Engineering): Leading test planning, governance, execution, and quality assurance across complex projects and programmes with an accent on integration, performance, regression, and user acceptance testing. Focus on managing testing risks and defects, guiding teams across agile, DevOps, and waterfall environments, and applying automation, API testing, and Generative and Agentic AI in quality engineering.

Location: Hybrid working across company offices, client sites, and home; working from home 100% of the time is not permitted. The role is aligned with UK employment arrangements.

What you will do

• Lead test planning, coordination, governance, and execution across projects and programmes.
• Define test strategies, approaches, plans, and quality practices aligned with business and project objectives.
• Oversee integration, system, performance, regression, user acceptance, and other non-functional testing activities.
• Manage test risks, defects, reporting, and communication of quality status to stakeholders.
• Mentor testing teams and promote best practices across agile, DevOps, and waterfall delivery environments.
• Collaborate with developers, business analysts, architects, and project teams to embed quality throughout the SDLC.

Requirements

• Proven experience leading testing activities across complex projects and programmes.
• Strong defect management, risk assessment, quality assurance, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Hands-on experience with functional, integration, system, regression, user acceptance, and non-functional testing.
• Experience with agile, DevOps, and waterfall environments.
• Familiarity with Jira, Azure DevOps, TFS, or ALM, plus API testing tools such as Postman, ReadyAPI, or SoapUI.
• Understanding of test automation principles and familiarity with Generative and Agentic AI in quality engineering; successful candidates undergo identity, nationality or immigration, employment history, and criminal record checks.

Nice to have

• ISTQB Foundation Certification in software testing or an equivalent qualification.
