Senior HPC Engineer (Quantum Computing): Scaling and optimizing high-performance scientific software and compute backends for quantum chip simulation workflows with an accent on CPU/GPU architectures, distributed pipelines, and numerical methods. Focus on profiling and resolving performance bottlenecks, designing heterogeneous workloads, and building scalable simulation systems for fault-tolerant quantum computing.
Location: Paris, France; hybrid workplace. Flexible remote work is available for up to 40% of each month.

What you will do
- Improve the performance of scientific computing tools across CPU and GPU architectures in cloud and on-premises environments.
- Profile, diagnose, and resolve bottlenecks at the algorithm, software, and hardware levels.
- Design, build, and scale distributed simulation pipelines for increasingly complex quantum system models.
- Develop and maintain production-grade scientific software and compute backends supporting quantum chip design and calibration.
- Collaborate with quantum theorists, experimentalists, and software engineers.
Requirements
- PhD or Master’s degree in scientific computing, applied mathematics, computer science, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience developing, testing, maintaining, and optimizing production-grade scientific software, including at least 2 years in an industrial environment.
- Strong programming skills in Python, JAX, and Rust.
- Hands-on HPC experience with MPI, OpenMP, GPU computing, workload scheduling, orchestration, profiling, and optimization across heterogeneous systems.
- Good knowledge of finite-precision arithmetic and numerical methods for linear algebra.
- Professional-level English, written and spoken, is required.
