TL;DR
Senior FPGA Engineer (TS/SCI) (VHDL/SystemVerilog, spacecraft): Developing and verifying mission-critical FPGA firmware for high-power spacecraft with an accent on vehicle networking, RF systems, real-time control, and fault-tolerant architectures. Focus on implementing RTL, validating designs through simulation and hardware-in-the-loop testing, and deploying reliable programmable logic across demanding space missions.
Location: Los Angeles, CA, United States. The role requires a U.S. person as defined by ITAR or eligibility for a federally issued export control license.
Base salary: $120,000–$225,000 annually, plus equity.

What you will do
- Own the architecture and implementation of programmable logic supporting spacecraft networking, RF systems, and real-time control.
- Implement FPGA architectures in RTL using VHDL and SystemVerilog.
- Verify and validate designs through simulation, bench testing, and hardware-in-the-loop testbeds.
- Support FPGA integration, testing, troubleshooting, development, and manufacturing across spacecraft systems.
- Develop tools and infrastructure for rapid, high-reliability FPGA solutions.
- Deploy and operate FPGA systems across multiple spacecraft and demanding missions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, mathematics, or another STEM discipline, or 3+ years of professional software development experience.
- 3+ years of experience working with complex FPGA designs spanning digital, mixed-signal, or RF applications.
- Development experience with VHDL or SystemVerilog.
- Must be a U.S. person under ITAR or otherwise eligible for a federally issued export control license.
Nice to have
- Experience with Xilinx SoC platforms, DSP, software-defined radios, high-speed SERDES, Ethernet, PCIe, or JESD204C.
- Experience with AXI, AXI-Stream, vendor IP integration, and FPGA scripting using Python, TCL, or Bash.
- Experience with Linux systems programming, driver development, CI/CD, or hard real-time embedded systems.
- Knowledge of electronics, computer architecture, control systems, software verification, and performance debugging.
