Senior Virtualization Administrator (VMware/KVM)

Location: Lisbon, Portugal, with a hybrid work model of up to two remote days per week. Only candidates with an existing legal right to work in Europe will be considered.

What you will do

• Implement and maintain VMware, XenServer, and KVM virtualization environments.
• Design and manage virtual networks, storage, and compute resources for infrastructure integration.
• Automate recurring operations with PowerShell, Python, and Bash.
• Perform patching, upgrades, CIS hardening, monitoring, and proactive performance troubleshooting.
• Support migrations, disaster recovery testing, high availability, escalated incident resolution, and on-call operations.
• Manage support tickets and collaborate with teams on user enablement and training.

Requirements

• At least five years of experience in a similar virtualization administration role.
• Strong knowledge of VMware, XenServer, KVM, virtualization hardening, and automation.
• Hands-on experience with SolarWinds monitoring, dashboards, and troubleshooting.
• Understanding of DNS, DHCP, load balancing, and SSL VPNs.
• Strong scripting skills, especially with PowerShell, and the ability to diagnose virtual environment issues.
• Communicative English at B2–C1 level and an existing legal right to work in Europe.

Nice to have

• Azure cloud knowledge.
• Familiarity with Windows Server and additional monitoring tools.
• Knowledge of ITIL incident and change management processes.
