What you will do

• Define, architect, and implement Layer1 software features in collaboration with customers, product managers, and hardware engineers.
• Develop and maintain software in C, C++, and Python across forwarding engines, connectors, PHYs, transceivers, and gearbox interface chips.
• Build instrumentation, telemetry tools, automated tests, and test infrastructure for physical link health and reliability.
• Design software control interfaces for Layer1 components and support new media standards through market launch.
• Investigate and resolve issues found by customers, Customer Support Engineers, and System Test Engineers.
• Provide technical leadership, own projects from definition through deployment, and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

• BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering with at least 3 years of experience, or equivalent practical experience.
• Expert knowledge of C or C++ and Python.
• Knowledge of UNIX or Linux and applied software engineering principles.
• Strong problem-solving, debugging, and software troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to design and implement solutions independently and work effectively in small teams.
• Experience with low-level hardware, IP networking, distributed systems, or digital communication technologies is advantageous.
