TL;DR
Graphic Design Expert (AI): Evaluating high volumes of visual design samples to produce consistent training data for AI-powered visual evaluation systems with an accent on typography, composition, color, accessibility, and visual polish. Location: Remote, based in New Zealand. Part-time contract engagement requiring at least 10 hours per week; the initial project requires 15+ hours per week for two weeks and a minimum commitment of 30 hours.
Salary: Up to $20/hour for US-based candidates; compensation may vary by location and contract terms.

What you will do
- Review and rate graphic design samples using standardized professional criteria and 1–5 rating scales.
- Assess typography, composition, hierarchy, spacing, alignment, grids, color, accessibility, and visual assets.
- Apply design rubrics objectively while separating professional judgment from personal aesthetic preferences.
- Process large datasets with consistent accuracy, attention to detail, and concentration.
- Join calibration sessions to improve inter-rater reliability and maintain shared evaluation standards.
- Document unclear examples, edge cases, and issues with rating guidelines.
Requirements
- Formal education in graphic design, visual arts, or a related discipline, or 2–3 years of professional graphic design experience.
- Strong knowledge of composition, color theory, typography, visual hierarchy, layout, and visual communication.
- Experience reviewing designs, providing feedback, or assessing creative work against professional standards.
- Exceptional visual discrimination, attention to detail, and ability to apply predefined criteria consistently during repetitive work.
- Strong written communication and a reliable, disciplined, self-directed working style.
- Availability for at least 10 hours per week, with 15+ hours per week required during the initial two-week project.
Nice to have
- Portfolio demonstrating diverse design experience and a strong critical eye.
- Experience in art direction, quality assurance, accessibility, branding, editorial, digital design, or UX/UI.
- Familiarity with Figma, Sketch, WCAG, inclusive design, design systems, or component libraries.
- Previous experience in data annotation, content moderation, quality evaluation, or AI/ML projects.
- Interest in artificial intelligence, machine learning, or computer vision applied to visual and creative fields.
