TL;DR
WASH Officer (NO-2): Supporting the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of emergency WASH programmes in the Amhara Region with an accent on programme planning, field operations, and partner coordination. Focus on preparing technical reports, monitoring resources and results, supporting humanitarian response, and strengthening WASH capacity with government and NGO partners.
Location: Onsite in Bahir Dar, Ethiopia; applications are limited to Ethiopian nationals. The role supports programmes in the Amhara Region and may require deployment during humanitarian emergencies. will not facilitate visas or work authorization for National Officer positions.

What you will do
- Support WASH emergency programme planning, development, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting in the Amhara Region.
- Research WASH needs and trends and prepare technical reports, situation analysis updates, programme documentation, and donor reports.
- Conduct field visits and surveys, identify implementation bottlenecks, and provide technical and operational support to partners.
- Monitor programme resources, compliance, accountability, donor commitments, and progress towards WASH results.
- Support emergency preparedness and response, including requisitions, partnership agreements, situation reporting, and early recovery activities.
- Build partnerships and stakeholder capacity through coordination, knowledge sharing, advocacy, and learning initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Social Science, Sanitary Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Civil Engineering, Behavior Change Communication, or a related field.
- At least two years of relevant experience in WASH programmes, programme monitoring, emergency response management, or field operations.
- Skills in programme management, monitoring and evaluation, partnerships, public health, sanitary engineering, and behavior change communication.
- Fluency in English is required.
- Applicants must be Ethiopian nationals and able to meet visa and work authorization requirements independently.
- Ability to work collaboratively with government counterparts, NGOs, UN partners, donors, and other stakeholders.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish, or fluency in the local language.
- Experience in emergency response, field operations, partner coordination, or capacity building.
- Experience in development, fragile settings, or humanitarian contexts at country level.
