Research Director, Semiconductor

Location: Based in the NEO Building office in Shenzhen, China, with flexibility to balance office and remote work. Domestic and international travel is required for research and business development.

What you will do

• Lead the China Semiconductor research practice across semiconductor manufacturing, components, supply chains, and applications.
• Manage a local team of three analysts, including goal setting, performance management, mentoring, and career development.
• Coordinate primary and secondary research, including surveys, interviews, field research, databases, forecasting, and market analysis.
• Oversee research reports, topical analysis, custom projects, strategic consulting, and on-time delivery of client-facing outputs.
• Develop practice strategy and new services with product, sales, marketing, and cross-functional teams.
• Lead strategic client relationships, support revenue generation, and represent the practice through publications, conferences, panels, and industry events.

Requirements

• At least 6 years of experience in the China semiconductor industry, including knowledge of ecosystems, supply chains, market dynamics, and applications.
• Deep understanding of the semiconductor supply chain from foundries through components, including MCU, power semiconductors, and sensors.
• Experience tracking emerging technologies such as advanced packaging and chiplets.
• Advanced analytical and research capabilities, including expert Excel skills, database development, data management, and forecasting.
• Strong leadership, matrix management, presentation, written communication, networking, and mentoring skills.
• Experience in strategic account management, consulting, partnership development, commercial research, and thought leadership.
