Senior Software Engineer, Billing

Location: Remote within the United States

Salary: USD $124,000–$329,200 per year, plus potential bonus, stock, and other benefits.

What you will do

• Own and evolve billing systems serving millions of users, balancing reliability, scale, and development velocity.
• Develop and operate backend services, APIs, and frontend experiences across the stack.
• Define testing plans, success metrics, customer feedback loops, and architecture aligned with security and compliance standards.
• Mentor engineers through pairing, feedback, code review, and technical leadership.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders and Microsoft teams on shared technical and architectural challenges.
• Participate in on-call rotations, lead incident response, and improve system reliability.

Requirements

• 6+ years of software engineering experience, or equivalent experience through the listed education and experience pathways.
• Production software development experience with one or more languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Go, Ruby, Rust, or Python.
• Experience designing and operating services on cloud platforms such as Azure, including infrastructure and deployment.
• Experience maintaining production systems with strong attention to reliability, scalability, security, and compliance.
• Ability to participate in on-call rotations and incident response.

Nice to have

• Experience building and operating Go services at scale in high-traffic production environments.
• Experience with JavaScript and frontend frameworks such as React.
• Experience with billing, licensing, payments, subscriptions, budgeting controls, or other high-stakes transactional systems.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development workflows, hirify.global Copilot, or LLM-based tooling.
• Experience driving technical decisions across teams and mentoring engineers.
