Design Director, Platform UI

Location: Structured hybrid work in the United States, with office attendance during the middle of the week and remote work on Mondays and Fridays. Preferred locations are Chicago, Cincinnati, Minneapolis, or Dallas; candidates near Los Angeles and San Diego offices may also be considered. Bentonville is listed as an office location.

What you will do

• Lead the visual interface layer of complex platform engagements, translating UX foundations into production-ready UI.
• Architect and govern design systems, component libraries, design tokens, documentation, versioning, and contribution models.
• Partner with engineering, product management, platform architects, and Experience Strategy to ensure scalable implementation and design fidelity.
• Drive visual quality across typography, color, spacing, iconography, motion, micro-interactions, and accessibility.
• Manage, mentor, hire, and develop a team of UI designers while establishing critique and governance practices.
• Present design rationale and platform vision to senior client and executive stakeholders.

Requirements

• 8+ years of digital product, UI, or visual/interface design experience, including at least 3 years in product, platform, or B2B SaaS design.
• Leadership experience in an agency, consulting firm, or product company with direct people management responsibility.
• Portfolio of shipped enterprise product interfaces demonstrating design-system thinking, visual craft, and engineering partnership.
• Advanced Figma skills, including component architecture, variables, auto-layout, and design-system management; familiarity with Storybook, Zeroheight, or similar tools.
• Working fluency in WCAG 2.1 AA and accessibility tooling, plus experience designing for enterprise or regulated environments.
• Employment requires verification of identity and authorization to work in the United States through Form I-9.

Nice to have

• Adobe Creative Suite proficiency.
• Experience with digital agencies and enterprise MarTech, telecom, financial services, manufacturing, content, or commerce platforms.
