Major Projects Director

Location: UK, with hybrid work and travel to project sites and client locations

What you will do

• Provide executive leadership, governance, and assurance across a portfolio of major projects.
• Lead, coach, and develop Project Directors while strengthening succession planning and leadership capability.
• Oversee safe project mobilisation, execution, commissioning, close-out, schedule performance, and operational delivery.
• Manage portfolio revenue, margin, cash performance, forecasting, working capital, commercial risks, and opportunities.
• Chair project and portfolio reviews, escalate significant risks, and ensure consistent project controls and reporting.
• Build senior client relationships and support strategic bids, framework opportunities, business planning, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Significant experience leading major engineering, construction, or industrial services projects in energy, process, industrial, infrastructure, or nuclear sectors.
• Proven experience managing multiple high-value projects through senior project leadership teams.
• Strong commercial experience with NEC and other major forms of contract.
• Experience leading large multidisciplinary teams in complex project environments.
• Strong stakeholder management, client relationship, governance, project controls, commercial, and risk management skills.
• Ability to influence senior internal and external stakeholders; a relevant degree and professional qualifications are desirable.

Nice to have

• Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related discipline.
• Chartered Engineer, Chartered Project Professional, or equivalent qualification.
• NEC accreditation or relevant commercial management qualifications.
• Experience in highly regulated environments.
