TL;DR
Senior Systems Engineer (Aerospace): Developing and integrating spacecraft and lunar rover systems for planetary exploration missions with an accent on requirements management, system-level trade-offs, mission operations, and verification planning. Focus on designing system simulations, resolving integration anomalies, defining interfaces, and balancing ECSS compliance, risk, schedule, and cost.
Location: On-site in Luxembourg, with occasional travel to offices, vendors, instrument providers, events, and conferences.

What you will do
- Perform system-level trade-offs, manage requirements, and coordinate design inputs across engineering disciplines.
- Develop rover mission concepts of operations, system-sizing simulations, configuration studies, and mission design verification and validation logic.
- Define spacecraft and payload interfaces, author interface documentation, and coordinate technical development with instrument providers and lander teams.
- Plan and execute assembly, integration, and testing activities, troubleshooting anomalies and non-conformances.
- Prepare systems engineering plans, project documentation, customer deliverables, and technical review materials.
- Improve systems engineering processes and tools while supporting mission planning, customer proposals, feasibility studies, and resource estimation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace Engineering, or an equivalent discipline.
- 5–7 years of experience in the aerospace industry.
- Strong understanding of systems engineering processes, spacecraft systems, subsystems, payload design, assembly, and testing.
- Practical experience in avionics or payload electronics, electrical power, communications and RF, mechanical or thermal analysis, or aerospace integration and testing.
- Ability to independently plan and execute complex technical work in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Strong command of English is required.
Nice to have
- Experience with concept of operations, functional analysis, specifications, procedures, and requirements management.
- Hands-on laboratory, prototyping, assembly, integration, and test experience.
- Knowledge of spacecraft subsystems, interfaces, operations, instrumentation, sensor physics, lunar science, or ISRU processes.
- Experience with FMECA, FDIR, reliability or hazard analysis, and engineering software architecture.
- Familiarity with ECSS, MIL-STD, or comparable spacecraft design and test standards.
