Senior Big Data Developer (Apache Spark)

Location: Based in the hirify.global office in Prague, Czech Republic

Annual base salary: Kč 1,884,000–Kč 2,301,000, plus potential incentive award and country-specific benefits.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and deliver scalable, maintainable, and optimized software solutions.
• Build and optimize distributed data processing pipelines using Hadoop and Apache Spark.
• Troubleshoot performance issues across large-scale data infrastructure and tune Spark configurations.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to define requirements and integrate solutions.
• Participate in code reviews, unit testing, knowledge sharing, and technology communities.
• Apply secure coding practices to protect sensitive data and mitigate vulnerabilities.

Requirements

• Extensive proficiency in at least one of Python, Scala, or Java, with experience writing optimized, production-grade code.
• Hands-on experience with the Hadoop ecosystem, including HDFS, YARN, and cluster management.
• Proven expertise designing and optimizing Apache Spark jobs for large datasets and distributed processing.
• Ability to analyze complex problems, guide technical direction, and collaborate with senior stakeholders.
• Understanding of risk management, controls, secure development, and software reliability practices.

Nice to have

• Experience with UI or web development and REST APIs.
• Experience in an investment bank or similar financial environment.
