Health Officer (Polio) (Public Health and Immunization): Supporting the planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of polio eradication and broader health programmes with an accent on immunization strengthening, zero-dose reduction, and emergency response. Location: Kano, Nigeria; onsite duty station. The position is a 364-day temporary appointment, and candidates must meet visa and residence requirements for national officer positions.

What you will do
- Support health programme development, planning, implementation, and delivery.
- Manage monitoring, progress tracking, evaluation, and reporting of programme results.
- Provide technical and operational support for immunization and polio eradication activities.
- Monitor disease outbreaks and help plan and operationalize response measures.
- Build partnerships and support networking, knowledge management, innovation, and capacity building.
Requirements
- University degree in public health, nutrition, epidemiology, global health, health policy and management, biostatistics, or another relevant technical field.
- At least two years of professional experience in public health or nutrition planning and management, maternal and neonatal healthcare, or health emergency and humanitarian preparedness.
- Experience with health and immunization programme management, result-based planning, polio eradication, outbreak response, and partnership management.
- Fluency in English is required.
- Ability to meet medical clearance, vaccination, visa, and residence requirements.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish, or a local language.
- Experience with a UN system agency or organization.
- Country-level experience in development, fragile, or humanitarian contexts.
