Journalist (Broadcast and Digital Media)

Location: Onsite in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The role may involve morning, afternoon or night shifts, with flexible working discussed during the hiring process.

What you will do

• Write accurate, engaging and SEO-aware articles for the hirify.global Swahili website.
• Produce, present and edit short-form video for YouTube, TikTok, Instagram Reels, Facebook and other digital platforms.
• Self-shoot video using mobile or camera equipment, applying sound visual judgement, clear audio and suitable framing.
• Present and produce radio, television and streaming content, including scripts, interviews and broadcast packages.
• Develop contacts across East Africa to support original newsgathering and on-the-ground reporting.
• Cover breaking news live across platforms while maintaining hirify.global editorial standards.

Requirements

• Experience producing content for news websites, YouTube, TikTok, Instagram Reels, Facebook, television and radio.
• Strong digital writing skills in Swahili, including sourcing, structure and search optimisation.
• Experience producing and presenting short-form and vertical video for social media.
• Practical self-shooting, video editing and visual storytelling skills using mobile or camera equipment.
• Ability to present scripts, interviews and two-ways clearly for broadcast and streaming audiences.
• Professional fluency in written and spoken Swahili and English is required. Experience verifying social media and user-generated content under deadline pressure is also required.
