Lead Frontend Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Remote from Portugal, Hungary, Poland, Romania, or South Africa

What you will do

• Lead frontend architecture and technical direction for self-serve merchant onboarding and platform experiences.
• Build frontend features hands-on, with approximately 80% of development focused on frontend and 20% on Python backend work.
• Partner with Design to take onboarding and platform experiences from concept through production.
• Define frontend conventions, architecture review practices, testing approaches, and code-quality standards for a newly formed team.
• Mentor engineers and establish a high standard for frontend engineering.

Requirements

• Strong production experience architecting and building complex frontend applications.
• Ability to provide senior frontend technical direction and challenge product or design decisions when needed.
• Some backend experience and willingness to contribute to a Python codebase.
• Experience mentoring other engineers, including less-experienced developers.

Nice to have

• Experience building or integrating payment products.
• Experience with growth, onboarding, or activation-focused product areas.
