TL;DR
WASH Officer (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene): Providing technical, operational, and administrative support for the implementation of WASH programme activities with an accent on drinking water supply and sanitation infrastructure. Focus on strengthening coordination with local authorities and ensuring quality delivery of hardware projects across Somaliland.
Location: Onsite in Hargeisa, Somalia

What you will do
- Analyze WASH situation trends to inform programme development, management, and evaluation.
- Prepare technical reports and documentation to support programme preparation.
- Provide technical and administrative support across the entire programme cycle, ensuring compliance with organizational processes.
- Conduct field visits and surveys to identify and report bottlenecks and critical risks.
- Draft requisitions for supplies, services, and partnership agreements to support emergency preparedness and response.
- Support government counterparts and NGO partners on policies and WASH best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Hydrology, Water Resources, or a related technical field.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience in WASH, water supply, sanitation infrastructure, or humanitarian response.
- Proven skills in coordination, infrastructure monitoring, and procurement/contract management.
- English: Proficient/Fluent level required.
- Must be based in or be able to work onsite in Hargeisa, Somalia.
Nice to have
- Master's Degree or postgraduate courses in a relevant field.
- Knowledge of Somali or another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish).
- Experience working in fragile settings and humanitarian contexts at the country level.
